Enjoy these picks from early spring in Northern Illinois. Winters up north can be pretty harsh. Nothing brightens your spirits faster than beautiful daffodils in the morning.
Some of these spring flower photos were taken in West Virginia too. I'm especially fond of the Rhodadendren. That is WV's state flower. I remember as a kid growing up there how nice it was when they ushered in the season.
Take your time and enjoy this walk through Creation's by Sally's Free Photo Gallery collection of spring flowers.

You can count on daffodils and tulips to start the ball rolling when it comes to this first season after winter. Spring is one of my favorite times of year. Walking in the woods and along our many local garden paths flowers burst forth with triumphant smiles.
This fresh burst of color seems to be calling me for their turn to enjoy having their pictures taken. Sometimes I'll be especially pleased with my days walk. Other times I never want it to end. And most of all I love sharing with you.
This red trillium is a very early spring arrival. You will meet many people walking on forest trails seeking it out.
I spotted my first one while walking in the forest paths of Morton Arboretum. A couple happened along the path at about the time I was taking a picture.
I think it is their simplicity and that early spring arrival is what makes them so attractive. It was this couple who told me what a red trillium is.
As you might guess the trillium comes from the fact that each flower has 3 leaves surrounding the flower. Sometimes they are also white.

Special thanks to readers who take the time to let me know the real names of some flowers. I am often able to find the names of flowers in my research.
But there are times when the correct name simply does not present itself. Feel free to contact me any time you see that I have need to correct or add to this site. It is my goal to give you, my visitor, exactly the information you are seeking.
