Iris Pictures In Free Photo Gallery
From Creations by Sally

Iris pictures are some of the most interesting to take.  I think one of my favorite flowers of the season are the Iris.    And it seems you can find them blooming all summer long.

They really earn their Greek Goddess name.  Whether you are looking at a garden of miniature blue flowers or a single flag, they shine above other flowers around them.

The iris is a sun loving plant that likes well drained soil.  You want to give these plants lots of room to grow by dividing them on a regular basis.

It also helps to prune back their leaves every fall.  With just a little care, these beautiful flowers will give you years of pleasurable viewing.

Each thumbnail you see here opens into a gallery right on this page. Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons near the top of each picture to see the next image in line.

Iris Pictures - Flowers in a Variety of Colors For Your Viewing Pleasure

I took most of these pictures while visiting the Morton Arboretum in Illinois.  You are sure to enjoy the variety of colors in this collection.  One of my favorites is the purple and white classic look iris.

Which one is your favorite?  Do you have an iris picture you would like to share with us?  If you do just fill out the form at the bottom of this page and I will gladly publish your picture to the site.

In this row the flowers that stand out most may be those in the middle.  They are known as miniature blue iris.  Although they may not be as large as most flowers in the garden they make up for it in numbers as they spread before your eyes.  These miniature versions are just one of a collection of flowers in this category.

There are far too many to be able to name them.  I've taken pictures while walking in parks and neighborhoods.  Not many people label their garden plants after they get them in the ground.  And so I've given each image a name by color mostly.

If you're looking for Poster prints, canvas framing optional I invite you to check out my online gallery.

When it comes to color for your garden, you can't go wrong by adding even one of these beautiful iris flowers.  This Peach beauty looks almost good enough to eat.

The iris has a long history of royalty behind them.  Iris meaning goes back to Greek Mythology. Meanings include:

  • faith,
  • courage,
  • hope,
  • wisdom and
  • admiration.
