Our first stop was to tour Hell MI. Curiosity is what brings you here. Fun memories is what you'll take away with you.
We had been planning this trip for nearly a year. My husband spent hours planning with Google Maps places of interest in the 11 states he had not yet visited.
His goal has been to touch foot on every state in the United States. We only have Alaska left on that list as of August.
After we returned from this trip, I did a search online for places named Hell. I was surprised to find five.
This article will focus on our Tour Hell MI fun exploration. My husband visited Hell Grand Caymen, some time ago but that will have to be for another story.
In our planning phase of the trip there were many things that needed to be taken into account.
Lodging was a big factor. We decided that it would be fun to do our travel camping style. I let my husband do the planning and I sat back and read the map to each destination.
I must say, camping had its fun moments but there were stresses as well. I'll share some of the lessons we learned as I continue this series of articles about Fun vacations the whole family can enjoy. And that includes the family dog.
A glance around the grounds reveals a ton of fun to be had by all. We had to wait in line to get our pictures taken behind those nifty greeting panels. Inside the safety of that iron fence is a putt putt golf course full of screams of delight when you get your hole in one.
But don't stop with picture taking. There's lots to do in this tiny town called Hell.
It's pretty obvious that the grounds are there for your enjoyment and childish adventure nature for one and all.
You can Rent a Canoe or Kayak for the day and paddle to the dam.
Lock your love in their infamous bridge with other damned lovers and throw away the key in the Hell Creek River!
There's even an official post office inside the diner, where you can send cards and letters post marked from Hell.
It's all in fun for sure but where does one stay when they visit Hell? Why Hell Creek Ranch campground, of course. Our first order of business was to set up our tent and prepare for the evening.
We enjoyed a leisure stroll around the campgrounds before heading into town. If you take a close look at the sign this is a full service campground including hiking trails, (Be sure and bring bug spray), fishing, a nice pool. And they even offer horse riding lessons. I give it a thumbs up for sure.
Then it was off to Hell for some Screaming Ice Cream. We each picked a spooky sounding flavor then shared bites. It was delicious and fun just in the name calling.
Of course the child in both of us was giggling a little because we broke the rules and had desert before dinner time.
We didn't check out everything that this little tourist attraction offers but we had fun walking the grounds. It's a fun place to bring the family. I would recommend you check them out, then you can tell all your friends, "We've been to Hell and back, and had a lot of fun." Be sure and check out www.gotohellmi.com to learn more. Enjoy yourself and check back to tell us all about it.
