Wedding Day Monarch Swarm

by Lauren A. Zgrabik

Monarch butterfly lands on my wedding veil.

Monarch butterfly lands on my wedding veil.

Monarch butterfly lands on my wedding veil.
Butterfly lands on my little sister.

Directly after "the I-Do's" and "the kiss," my new husband and I were surrounded by our family. We decided not to do the traditional thing where we ran off by ourselves and raced off to our honeymoon in a decorated car.

We stayed and talked and hugged everyone. While we were standing by the altar with family surrounding us, my mother noticed a single Monarch butterfly had landed on my veil.

She laughed and pointed it out almost at the same time I saw another one land on my little sisters hair.

Butterfly after butterfly started landing on us. We held out our arms and fingers for them to land on.

They were in my veil, on my dress, on my husband, on my sister, on my mom...you name it!

They were not scared of our movement either. They stayed on us for a few minutes while we stood there in awe.

My mother captured a few great pictures of the moment.

I immediately thought of my grandfather who had passed away a few years ago. He would have loved to have been there to see me get married. I believe maybe he was!

My mother said the same exact thing. I believe it was his way of acknowledging my day and letting us know he was there.

Thank you for your touching story

Hi Lauren, and family. What a lovely story of butterfly landings. Since we are all connected in this beautiful universe, I agree that your grandfather may well have been having fun with you.

Congratulations on your most enjoyable wedding.
