What type of lilly is it?

Looks like a Surprise Lily

Looks like a Surprise Lily

Could you help me identify this lily? It looks like a Surprise lily to me. (question and comment by Sally, owner of Nature and Flower Pictures).

Stephanie had this to say about her picture. My brother in Texas has a lily he can't identify. It is trumpet like and blooms last for 2-3 days, he thinks. I will try to download a picture of it. Thank you.

Not a lily
by: Anonymous

I believe this flower is not a lily but an Amaryllis called Belladonna. I had thought it was a lily at first. It is one of the few Amaryllis' that are hardy and originates from South Africa. Hope this helps!

It has all the look of a Crinum. A very beautiful plant that is hardier than what you might expect from the delicate pink of its flowers

Is this a Surprise Lily
by: Sally

Thank you Stephanie for your submission. This is a lovely picture. The Surprise Lily I refer to is named this because before the lily blooms there appears to be no flower at all. Then you are surprised by a beautiful lily the next morning.

But the leaves on this lily seem very full so it may be something else. I hope readers can help. If I find a closer match I will leave another comment.
